    Summit Gold on the curb!!

I’ve started digging into this behemoth. As mentioned the bottom was roached badly. The lower 1.5” of the back is pretty bad too. So those I’ve dropped off with a friend who is going to rebuild. Also too the flavorizers and those he plans on rebuilding while salvaging most. Only two were rusted...

    Hold me back.....

Wife's out of town and this has been listed for awhile. Not sure how she'll feel about it if she returns and I have yet another grill in the garage along with that Summit. But this looks like a nice deal and perhaps a quick and easy flip. Please talk me out of it...

    Any Bargain Covers?

Why not. I cover all the toys (quads, snowmobiles, etc).

    Any Bargain Covers?

I'm looking for a decent cover for my curb-found Summit Gold (B6). Not really wanting to spend the $80+ on a cover since we (the wife) also just purchased a new grill w/cover days before my find. This grill will be kept in our garage >50% of the time as we've decided to take it to our cabin...

    Cleaning up SS rod grates

I had the grates from my curb-found Summit Gold media blasted at a friends shop. Not agressive like sand so it didn’t profile the surface. They came out looking fantastic!

    Broilmaster Grills

Magnetic or not, the same metal should be used throughout if there will be any contact between the surfaces or one WILL corrode at an accelerated pace. http://www.ssina.com/corrosion/galvanic.html

    Broilmaster Grills

We just took delivery last week of a Napoleon Prestige 500 last week (4 days before finding that Summit Gold on the curb:(). It's a very nice grill. Sales guys tells me that they sell Napoleons 7:1 over the Webers now due to some of the quality issues with the newer ones discussed on this forum...

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

No apologies needed. I should have gotten images posted sooner to resolve this sooner. I'm glad that this unit doesn't have the major issue and I'll keep an eye on that panel that seems to exhibit a bit of corrosion already. Seems to me that a major issue with this corrosion is due to...

    Broilmaster Grills

I assume that he steered me away for the reasons you've listed. You get much more grill with the Weber or Napoleon but if you want it mounted in the ground it's the way to go.

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

Ok, Here goes my attempt at images. Here are a couple shots of the grill itself. Looks really really nice! Side shelves fully functional!! Here is the side burner. It's like brand spanking new. I truly don't believe that it was every used. Under the hood... The rotted bottom.... :( I...

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

Would the little gas collection igniter boxes be mounted to this trim/guide plate?

    Broilmaster Grills

The grill dealer nearby where we recently purchased our Napoleon carries these. They are high-end but, as you mentioned, pretty plain-jane. No frills. Sales guy there seemed to steer me away from these unless I was looking for one to be permanently pedestal mounted, which I wasn't.

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

So when I look from the inside there is no black porcelain enamel coated panel. The SS panel that I can see from looking under where the controls are is the same panel visible from inside. Could it be that this was replaced at some point already? Maybe this flaw was something Weber realized and...

    What’s Up with Summits?

Where was the thread about converting to an open cart? I'd like to see how they did that. Thanks

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

If looking from the underside of the control panel where the igniter is I can see the tubes coming through what looks to be an unpainted metal panel. It looks brand new with no corrosion whatsoever. Is this the panel that can cause issues? If so I wonder if the former owner had it fixed/replaced.

    Summit Gold on the curb!!

Fridays here are garbage day and Thursday night as I rounded a corner down the street from home I noticed a grill by the curb.....a large grill. I backed up for a closer look and was shocked/surprised/excited to see a Weber Summit Gold in what appeared to be darn good shape. So I zipped the...
