Vintage Weber Summit - Looks Clean - Chicagoland Area

You might try this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H3DPXK4?tag=tvwb-20 There used to be a Dawn product that Members Mark was basically a knock off of. I can’t remember the name.

Weber Slate commercial on Food Network

Thanks for posting, Chris! The Slate griddle looks like a winner, a big improvement over the first iteration.

    Spirit SP320 - Input

To me, these were the very last gasp of the original Genesis. The classic design is hiding underneath that “modernized” outer shell. I am pretty sure basic Silver B components will interchange.

Vintage Weber Summit - Looks Clean - Chicagoland Area

I didn’t do it. I bought those from the same guy I got my Weber Flat Top. He had them sandblasted. While that does make them more uniform it also roughs up the finish, so I wouldn’t recommend it. In addition to the angle grinder/cup brush you might try soaking them for a day or more in...

    Painting and Refurbishing the Badge

I owned and used the grill for a couple of years and never saw any problems with it.

    Painting and Refurbishing the Badge

I used an artist's brush, and I just used Testor's model paint with no apparent issues.

    Painting and Refurbishing the Badge

Doing a quick review of our collection of brochures and advertisements, it looks like it was right around 2000 that the kettle got moved to the right and reduced in size. I think it was done in recognition that gas grills were now becoming the big ticket and that kettles were no longer the...

    Genesis EP-310 battery replacement

I think lithium batteries are well worth it for this application and for use in things like instant read thermometers, etc.

    Smokefires- large $499, small $399

Great opportunity to get an EX4 and register with warranty (at least for what that proves to be worth). So many great and bad things said about one grill:unsure:; it has to be one of the most controversial models Weber has ever made. I know I still would love to cook on one.

New The Huntsman Kettle Kamado Grill from Spider coming.

SLOW N SEAR on the HUNTSMAN Here's a quick, abbreviated video of someone doing burnt ends using a Slow-N-Sear on a Huntsman. A little different from how I have done them, but interesting. Seems like the SNS works fine. I received this link in an email from Spider, so they must approve:

I will just leave this here

Bruce, I like your Yankee ingenuity. Way to improvise! I think a number of us will be interested in seeing how that comes together. (y)

    The project has begun!!

Photo op! I wish it was in someone’s truck loaded up after selling it to them. Lots of looks, saves, and complements, but no buyer🥲.

    Is this worth $150

Cool, Steve. I guess I forgot about GrillParts having them. The price has come down, too!

    Is this worth $150

That’s true for the 1st generation Summit, but those special tall flavorizer bars for the 2000-2004 Platinums and Golds are a pretty tough find, at least in my looking.

    Is this worth $150

Sure does! Even in a winter backyard :coolkettle:

    Is this worth $150

They are unique and kind of cool. As Bruce noted they have a kind of "macho" look that stands out from Silvers of that era. But, as Bruce and others noted these aren't the easiest to restore due to parts. $150 for a keeper if you look at it and really like it, sure. But I think it will be uphill...

    The project has begun!!

Like @LMichaels said, you can always prime and paint black while enjoying the peace of mind that all that stainless brings.

    The project has begun!!

My taste runs in the all semi-gloss, so that’s what I always do. Others like the contrast. I think it is probably true that the older Webers originally had a flat firebox.

New The Huntsman Kettle Kamado Grill from Spider coming.

I think Tom feels the charcoal grate is so much larger than on a 22" Weber kettle that the SNS won't "fit" exactly right. Maybe not, but I still think you could use it. I actually messaged Tom about trying one of his diffusers on the Huntsman. He was kind to quickly reply and say he thought...

Genesis XX - A one year only classic!

Bumping up one last time. I have dropped the price to a measly $235. It breaks my heart, but everyone tells me how cool it is, yet no one offers to buy it. I would love to see a club member who appreciates what this classic is make a good home for it. Most likely, otherwise, it will wind up...
